“What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, ‘Go, I wish you well – keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:14-17
From the organizations earliest days, Six Treasures Ministries has provided temporary housing assistance to homeless persons. Housing has been offered to those needing temporary medical respite following hospitalization. In addition, short term monetary assistance with rent has been granted to individuals attempting to establish housing after a period of homelessness. More recently, the organization began to provide permanent monthly rental support for an individual with a worsening medical condition and ongoing struggles with alcoholism.
Currently, an active search is underway to identify and purchase a house that will allow Six Treasures to provide transitional housing for up to three men. There will be one room kept available for men who are in need of short term medical respite. Our vision is that this would be the first of several locations that provide access to the affordable, transitional housing that is sorely lacking in our community.
